Mumsnet, a London-based forum for parents, to invite support from
their popular ‘Am I being unreasonable?’ thread. ‘To think’, she begins,
‘I shouldn’t be named and shamed for not clapping’.1
‘Clapping’, by this point, has become synonymous with a Thursday night ritual, what came to be known as ‘Clap for Carers’, when those staying at home congregate at their doors to celebrate the work of the UK’s National Health Service (NHS) by clapping and banging pots and pans.
